We believe in healthier futures for Mississippi children. We offer services that help expecting mothers to reach their best health, and support for families and children with health challenges.
During Your Pregnancy
Having a healthy pregnancy
Your health is one of the biggest influences on your baby's health and early years. Read our complete advice for all mothers to have the healthiest pregnancy they can.
Having a baby when you're younger (under 19) carries its own set of problems. We offer support for your health and well-being during this time for a better pregnancy and a thriving baby.
If you have health challenges
If you smoke, have high blood pressure or diabetes, or face other challenges to your best health, we offer a wide range of support during your pregnancy and after.
Mothers need proper nutrition and the right amount of it for the best development of their baby during pregnancy. Qualifying women can get free supplemental food from our WIC program while pregnant and after.
For You and Your Child
Infants with health risks
Babies with health problems such as premature birth that can affect their health and first year of life can get free assistance from our Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies program. Mothers with an illness or in conditions that put their infant's health at risk can also qualify. The program identifies the care and services needed, and coordinates them in a plan for your child.
Children with developmental delays
Children under age 3 with developmental delays (caused by premature birth, genetic conditions, or others) can get connected with the right services to help them through our Early Intervention program. Parents learn ways to help their child develop at home, school and in the community.
Children and youth under 18 years old who have special health needs such as a disability or chronic illness can get help organizing their care and connecting with services and community resources that best fit their needs.
Qualifying families with children under 5 can get free supplemental food from our WIC program to support children's growth and development.
