The Division of Radiological Health protects the public from unnecessary radiation exposure by ensuring the safe use of radioactive materials and radiation-producing equipment.
Through regulatory oversight, environmental monitoring, and radiation safety programs, the Division supports public health across healthcare, industry, research, education and the environment.
In partnership with the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), the Division also enhances the state's preparedness for radiological emergencies by participating in planning, training, and federally evaluated emergency response exercises for the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station.
