WIC-approved stores are expected to keep WIC-approved foods available so families can use their benefits when they shop.
WIC Participants
Sometimes WIC items may not be available in the store you visit because of ordering or supply issues. If this happens, participants are encouraged to check with their local WIC clinic for more information.
WIC Vendors
WIC-authorized vendors must maintain the minimum stocking requirements for WIC-approved foods so families can use their WIC benefits. The minimum stocking requirements for infant formula have been updated and in place since September 1, 2025, and were communicated via email and advisory sessions to all vendors. These minimum stocking requirements apply to all WIC-authorized store locations.
If a required item is not available because of ordering problems or supply issues, stores should keep records and email vmu@msdh.ms.gov. Stores should check the Minimum Stocking Requirements chart below often to make sure they are following WIC rules.
