Water system officials have notified the Mississippi State Department of Health of a boil water alert issued for the City of Purvis.


Customers affected: This notice affects approximately 50 connections located on Logaras Circle.

This is a precautionary notice. This notice is the result of repair work performed on the water system after a water line burst.

Customers notified by public works by going door to door.

Residents will be notified by the water system when the advisory is lifted. For more information customers may contact their water system at 601.794.2472.


City of Purvis has issued a Boil-Water Alert for customers who receive their drinking water from their water supply located in Lamar County.

When a distribution system loses pressure, contaminants can siphon back into the water. Public health officials consider any system that loses pressure contaminated until tests prove otherwise. Health officials strongly recommend that all water be boiled vigorously for one minute before it is consumed.
