Town of Florence officials notified the Mississippi State Department of Health that a precautionary Boil Water Notice has been issued due to a line break.

This notice affects approximately 551 customers in downtown Florence, North Church Street, South Church Street, East Main Street, White Street, Lewis Street east of Mullican Cove and part of West Main Street from Meadows Cove East.

Residents will be notified immediately by the water system when the advisory is lifted.

Town of Florence (0610009) has issued a Boil-Water Alert for customers who receive their drinking water from their water supply located in Rankin County.

When a distribution system loses pressure, contaminants can siphon back into the water. Public health officials consider any system that loses pressure contaminated until tests prove otherwise. Health officials strongly recommend that all water be boiled vigorously for one minute before it is consumed.
