These guidelines help the child care provider decide when children with certain communicable diseases or conditions should be allowed to attend or return to the child care setting. The return to child care times are based on the usual period of time that a person is considered to be contagious, not on the time that may be necessary for full clinical recovery from the signs or symptoms of an illness.
