The Mississippi State Department of Health is responsible for administering the Title V Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Services Block Grant for the State of Mississippi. The 2013 grant application was submitted on July 16, 2012, to the Maternal and Child Health Bureau of the federal Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) requesting funds from Title V of the Social Security Act for the period October 1, 2012 through September 30, 2013.
The Title V MCH Block Grant plays a key role in the provision of maternal and child health services in Mississippi. Funds from this grant are distributed among a number of programs which target the improvement of the health of women and infants, children and adolescents, and children with special health care needs.
